Barcelona: las bazas de un puerto líder

El de cruceros es un tráfico especialmente sensible a la coyuntura y a condicionantes tan delicados como la seguridad, los servicios complementarios o el atractivo del destino; pero tanto Barcelona como su puerto cuentan en todos estos ámbitos con bazas indiscutibles para mantenerse en la cúspide. Ello es fruto del intenso trabajo realizado por la Comunidad Portuaria y el sector turístico de la ciudad y se ha visto reconocido, año tras año, no solo en las estadísticas, sino también con la concesión de premios y distinciones.
La satisfacción de los cruceristas se traduce en la apuesta constante de las navieras por el Port de Barcelona. En la actualidad operan en Barcelona 39 navieras de cruceros, la práctica totalidad de las compañías de este ámbito presentes en el Mediterráneo. Tanto el propio reclamo turístico de la ciudad como los niveles de eficiencia de los servicios que se prestan a la actividad y la calidad de las seis terminales de cruceros repercuten en el alto grado de fidelización de las navieras.
Otra realidad del sector es que la tendencia a la desestacionalización de este tráfico se hace cada vez más palpable. En 2015, por ejemplo el Norwegian Epic (Norwegian Cruise Line) prolongará su operativa en el Port durante todo el año, igual que harán barcos de otras compañías que escalan en Barcelona desde hace años, como MSC y Aida.
Este año el Port de Barcelona recibirá un total 12 barcos de crucero en primera escala, algunos de ellos nuevos en el mercado, como es el caso del Anthem of the Seas y el Quantum of the Seas (Royal Caribbean), el Britannia (P&O) o el Costa Diadema (Costa Crociere). Además, después de acoger el año pasado al crucero más grande del mundo, el Oasis of the Seas (Royal Caribbean), el Port recibirá durante toda esta temporada varias escalas del Allure of the Seas, su gemelo, en su primera incursión fuera del Caribe.
Para una operativa aún más eficiente de estos y otros grandes cruceros, en el Port de Barcelona se ejecutan continuas mejoras. Así, la Autoridad Portuaria instalará una nueva pasarela para unir las terminales B y C. Por otra parte, la compañía Creuers del Port de Barcelona SA, que gestiona las terminales públicas del puerto, tiene prevista la actualización de equipamientos e inversiones en fingers en sus instalaciones. Y por otra parte, una vez terminada en 2014 la ampliación y mejora de su terminal Palacruceros, se prevé que la compañía Carnival Corporation & plc pueda iniciar este año la construcción de la nueva Terminal E.
Estos y otros factores confirman la confianza del mercado en el Port de Barcelona y permiten asegurar la solidez y fidelización de su oferta de cruceros.

Barcelona: assets of a leading port
The evolution of cruises at the Port of Barcelona has been parallel to the city take off as tourist destination from the nineties. Nowadays you can not talk of cruises in the Mediterranean without talking about the port of the Catalan capital, that consolidates its leading position and European reference, in addition of being the fourth home port of the world. The celebration in 2014 of the Seatrade Med in Barcelona, the most important event of the sector in Europe, allowed vindicate this capital status and welcomed more visitors than ever.
The cruise traffic is particularly sensitive to conjuncture and to conditionings so delicate as security, complementary services or the attractiveness of the destination; but both Barcelona and its port count on all these scopes with exceptional assets to maintain themselves at the top. This is the result of the intense work carried out by the Port Community and the tourist sector of the city and has been recognized, year after year, not only in statistics, but also with the granting of awards and distinctions.
Satisfaction of the cruise passengers results in the ongoing commitment of the shipping companies for the Port of Barcelona. At present operate in Barcelona 39 shipping companies of cruises, nearly all companies of this sector present in the Mediterranean. Both the very same tourist demand of the city and the efficiency levels and the services provided to the activity and the quality of the six terminals have effect in the high degree of fidelization of the shipping companies.
Other reality of the sector is the trend for readjusting seasons of this traffic which is more and more palpable. In 2015, for instance the Norwegian Epic (Norgewian Cruise Line) will extend its operations at the Port during the whole year, same as ships of other companies that have been calling at Barcelona for years will do, , as MSC and Aida.
This year the Port of Barcelona will receive a total of 12 cruises calling by first time, some of them new in the market, as is the case of Anthem of the Seas and Quantum of the Seas (Royal Caribbean), Britannia (P&O) or Costa Diadema (Costa Crociere). Moreover after hosting last year the largest cruise of the world, Oasis of the Seas (Royal Caribbean), the Port will receive during all this season several calls of Allure of the Seas, its twin, in its first incursion outside the Caribbean.
For a more efficient operation of these and other large cruises, at the Port of Barcelona, are carried out continuous improvements. Thus, the Port Authority will install a new gangway to join terminals B and C. Moreover, the company Creuers del Port de Barcelona SA, that manages the public terminals of the port, has foreseen the updating of equipments and investments in fingers in its facilities. Moreover, once finished in 2014 the expansion and improvement of its terminal Palacruceros it is foreseen that the company Carnival Corporation & plc starts this year the construction of the new terminal E.
